It’s time for the 2021 FitSteps for Life Walk-A-Thon! This year commemorates our 20th Anniversary and we’ve decided there’s no better way to celebrate than by climbing Mount Everest together!

When scaling Everest, each climber will cover 40 miles from Base Camp to the summit. So, we’re challenging you to do the same. We would like to encourage you to personally accumulate 40 miles from September 1 – September 30 and raise $40 to support FitSteps for Life. You can walk, run, bike, swim, or elliptical your way to 40 miles…it all counts! Your miles and dollars will bring us closer to our collective organizational goal as we cover 20,000 miles and raise $25,000.

Sean Swarner, the keynote speaker at our upcoming “Climbing Higher” 20th-anniversary luncheon knows a thing or two about climbing mountains. He is a two-time cancer survivor that has ascended the highest mountain on every continent, trekked to the North and South Poles, and completed the Hawaii Ironman – all with one lung.

Whether you walk in one of our FitSteps for Life centers, around your neighborhood, on a track, or attend a Park Day, remember that your support helps ensure that all our patient services are fully funded. Share your photos or videos of you reaching your personal goal and participating in the Walk-A-Thon on Facebook for a chance to win some cool prizes! Everyone is invited to participate so get your friends and family to join you too!

You can pick up a mileage log and donor form at your FitSteps for Life center. We are excited about this year’s Walk-A-Thon and to celebrate our 20th Anniversary with you!

1. Visit our race website and click the Sign Up button at the top of your screen.

2. Fill out your information to register.

3. Choose a team! Exercise Specialists along with other walkers can create teams.

4. Become a fundraiser and/or donate.

5. Sign up for email reminders and select your timezone. 6. Review your registration information then submit.

1. If you forgot to join a team while you were registering, you can still join a team by following these instructions. Visit our race website and click the profile icon in the top right corner. In the drop down, select My Registrations.

2. On the My Registered Races page, select Manage Registration.

3. In the blue tabbed list, select Group/Team.

4. On the gray tabbed bar, select Join Existing Group/Team. Choose a team! Exercise Specialists along with other walkers can create teams.

1. If you forgot to create a personal fundraiser while you were registering, you can still create one by following these instructions. Visit our race website and click the profile icon in the top right corner. In the drop down, select My Registrations.

2. On the My Registered Races page, select Manage Registration.

3. In the blue tabbed list, select Fundraiser.

4. Fill out the information on the Become a Fundraiser page. When you become a fundraiser, other people can contribute to your fundraising goal throughout the Walkathon. You are able to create a personal page, collect donations, and set your personal fundraiser goal. You can also share your own story or personal message.

1. Visit our race website and scroll towards the bottom of the website. Click the button that says Log Miles.

2. On the Participant Lookup page either search by your name or e-mail and date of birth.

3. Find and click the button that says Log Activities.

4. Fill out the information on the New Activity page and submit.
